Descripción

El vino que porta el nombre de este château de Margaux es un coupage de Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet franc y Petit verdot. Al final de su proceso de crianza mostrará con total plenitud las bondades que ya anticipó en las primeras muestras de barrica, entre las que destaca su carácter potente, jugoso y equilibrado y un longevidad que se antoja brillante.

Viñedos ubicados en una hermosa meseta de la zona de Labarde trabajados en en virtud de una viticultura sostenible sin herbicidas químicos.

Una media de 30 años, aunque las parcelas más viejas datan de 1920.

Cosecha
Vendimia manual en cajas pequeñas y clasificación también manual en mesas de selección. La cosecha se desarrolló del 11 de septiembre al 3 de octubre.
Vinificación
Selección intraparcela, fermentación en tinas de acero inoxidable termorreguladas de 60 a 180 hectolitros con remontados periódicos. Maceración a 28-30 °C, periodo de encubado entre 18 y 24 días. Fermentación maloláctica parcialmente en barrica.
Envejecimiento
12 meses en barricas de roble francés de tostado medio y grano fino (el 35% nuevas). Durante la crianza se producirán dos trasiegos.

Wine Enthusiast:

Barrel Sample. All the elements are showing well in this wine from the southern end of Margaux. It's an estate that is showing great promise and the wine brings together great tannins and richly delineated black fruits. It will age well. 

James Suckling:

This is seriously structured with blackcurrants, blueberries and iodine. It’s full yet so tight and focused with serious austerity and focus. Very classy and polished with precision. A terrific Siran. Try after 2026.

Decanter:

This is powerful and juicy with well balanced, opulent berry fruits - easy to fall in love with. This really is one of the few that has tannins that feel well caressed by the fruits, and the slightly higher than average alcohols gives a flattering feel through the mid palate. Nice job from winemaker Marjolaine Defrance and owner Edouard Miahle (who is now president of AOC Margaux, having succeeded Gonzague Lurton). Tasted twice. 1% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. 35% new oak. Hubert de Boüard consultant oenologist. Harvest September 11 to October 3. Drinking Window 2027-2044.

The Wine Advocate:

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Siran features notes of blackcurrant jelly, ripe redcurrants and raspberry leaves, plus suggestions of wild sage, tar and underbrush, with a waft of wild mushrooms. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, delivering approachable, soft tannins and plenty of red berry layers, finishing earthy.

Jeb Dunnuck:

Loads of blueberries, black raspberries, flowery incense, and violets define the nose of the 2020 Château Siran. It’s nicely concentrated and medium-bodied, with velvety tannins and the straight, focused style of the vintage. Tasted twice.
