Descripción

Château Léoville Barton 2006, segundo Cru Classé en 1855, procede de Saint-Julien, y ofrece lo mejor de esta famosa denominación. Es un burdeos clásico y potente, muy adecuado para la guarda. En las primeras catas de la añada 2023 ha vuelto a conquistar a la crítica por la suavidad de sus taninos "parecidos al cashmere" en palabras de James Suckling. Vibrante, puro, de aromas profundos y un final largo y penetrante. Un clásico en ciernes para William Kelley, el hombre de Parker en la zona, amplio, carnoso, con multitud de capas y una vibrante acidez. 

La entrega de este vino está prevista entre los meses de septiembre de 2025 y marzo de 2026.

Descripción
Viñedo ubicado en el corazón del 'terroir' de Saint Julien sobre laderas frente al río Gironda. Laboreo tradicional con arado sin emplear herbicidas.

Vendimia manual del 12 de septiembre al 2 de octubre.
Vinificación
Tras el despalillado, las bayas se clasificaron cuidadosamente pasando a su prensado y vertido por gravedad en tinas de madera termorreguladas para llevar a cabo la fermentación alcohólica, proceso que duró de 7 a 10 días con una extracción siempre respetuosa ajustando el número de bombeos dependiendo según las características del vino y de la añada. La maceración fue de unas 3 semanas y a su término se trasegó el vino a barricas, lote por lote.
Envejecimiento
Está prevista una crianza de entre 16 y 18 meses en barricas de roble francés, de las cuales el 60% son nuevas. Durante todo este proceso la bodega se mantiene a una temperatura constante de 15 °C. Los vinos se rellenan 3 veces por semana para evitar cualquier contacto con el aire, realizándose un trasiego tradicional mediante el método llamado 'à l'esquive'.

James Suckling:

The tannins here are cashmere-like. You can touch it, but at the same time it is weightless and beautiful. Medium- to full-bodied and textural. Soars at the end. This is really seamless and dialed in. Third year using the cellar. 87% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot and 3% cabernet franc.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2023 Léoville Barton is a lovely classic in the making, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cassis and blackberries mingled with notions of pencil shavings, licorice and violets. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's layered, concentrated and suave, with beautifully refined tannins, vibrant acids and a long, penetrating finish. Benefiting from the Barton family's new highly functional winery, as well as experimentation with more discreet cooperage choices, it's somewhat reminiscent of the estate's terrific 2016. The 2023 blend is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.

The 2023 Château Leoville Barton is another terrific wine from this château, and it plays in the fresh, vibrant, lively style of the vintage beautifully. Utterly classic blackcurrants, ripe tobacco, graphite, and cedar pencil notes define the aromatics, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, has terrific concentration, the pure, focused, mineral-driven style of the vintage, building yet ripe tannins, and a great finish. It has plenty of acidity as well as tannins and is built for the cellar. The blend is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, raised in 60% new oak. Harvest dates were the 12th of September to the 2nd of October.
