The amber-colored NV La Guita Manzanilla Pasada En Rama from 2024 is the third bottling of this complex wine after the 2022 and 2023 versions of it. The year is not easy to recognize; you have to look for the lot number printed on the back label. My bottle said L241142. This averages 10 years of age and has a nose that gives hints of Amontillado, starting its oxidative phase after years of aging under a veil of flor yeasts. Its origin is a sharp and mineral Manzanilla from Pago Miraflores La Baja, but years of evaporation and concentration have produced a bigger wine with more concentration and 16% alcohol (it started being fortified to 15%). It's from a barrel selection from their solera where the flor is very weak and has holes. The marine sensations, the iodine, low tide and esparto grass notes are complemented with some nutty undertones, hints of varnish and a whiff of noble wood. It's powerful and concentrated but with the lightness and elegance of its origin. 3,086 half-liter bottles produced. It was bottled unfiltered ("en rama") in April 2024.
Smoke and brioche aromas. Elegant palate with subtle stony, iodine notes. Squeaky clean, with a salty delicacy.
