Fifty-year-old vines in the Los Terreros parcel in San Vicente are the source of this pure Viura from Carlos Sánchez. Subtle struck match aromas lead into a palate of lime and citrus, with nuanced oak sweetness and a racy, refreshing, mineral core. 2023-28
The 2020 Buradòn Las Plegarias White was produced with Viura from a plot in the Los Terreros mountains in San Vicente de la Sonsierra on white soils close to Ábalos; the vineyard was planted in 1970 at 450 meters in altitude and is in the process of getting organic certification. It fermented and matured in barrel and has a moderate 13% alcohol and a pH of 3.1 (it didn't go through malolactic) that should make it long lived. It matured in barrels with the lees for 10 months and weekly bâtonnage during the first two months. Viura like this needs and benefits from time in bottle to be expressive—early on they are quite neutral, serious and austere, with shy notes of pollen and chamomile and a strict and calcareous palate with a chalky texture and salty finish. There's stuffing here to develop nicely, and it should improve for years. 1,280 bottles were filled in September 2021.
