Descripción

Echo es el segundo vino de Château Lynch Bages, a pesar de que su suavidad y estructura en boca recuerda al grand vin de la maison. Recibe su nombre de la ninfa de la mitología griega, Echo, que fue enmudecida como castigo por distraer a Hera, cuando Zeus buscaba otras mujeres entre las mortales. Esta añada la novedad reside en el mayor aporte de la Merlot sobre la Cabernet sauvignon, si bien el conjunto sigue presumiendo de la redondez y armonía marchamo de la bodega.

La entrega de este vino está prevista entre los meses de septiembre de 2025 y marzo de 2026.

Destaca por su redondez y armoniosa integración del roble. En suma, en palabras de Nicolas Labenne, director técnico del 'château', un vino opulento, en la tradición de su 'hermano mayor'.

Clima
El ciclo correspondiente a la añada 2023 vino marcado por el tiempo cambiante requiriendo la rápida adaptación a éste de los viticultores a fin de proteger las viñas ante estas condiciones complejas e inestables. Y es que el invierno, si bien fue en líneas generales suave, también presentó episodios de sequía que luego dieron paso a las lluvias, con el consiguiente riesgo de plagas. Aún así, todas las variedades alcanzaron una maduración óptima, destacando la excepcional calidad de la Cabernet, que aún exhibiendo uvas más pequeñas vio acentuada su concentración.
Envejecimiento
Crianza prevista de 14 meses en barricas de roble francés nuevas y usadas de un año.

Opinión de los críticos

James Suckling:

A balance of blackberry, chocolate and stone with a medium body, creamy texture and a soft finish. The length and depth are very pretty, while the juicy, velvety tannins are so attractive.

Decanter:

Ripe plums and black cherries on the nose, really quite intense and bright. Vibrant but rich too. A lot of high acidity, really quite prominent, verging on sharp, but lifts the expression and gives a real edge to the red fruits on the palate. Sleek, well defined, but this also has some chew and flesh as well as bite. It’s a little high toned, but actually once it’s settles it’ll be lovely for sooner drinking. Bright, young, buzzy and easy.

Jeb Dunnuck:

Graphite, tobacco, spicy herbs, and both red and black fruits all emerge from the 2023 Echo De Lynch-Bages, a medium to full-bodied second wine that has plenty of tannins, good balance, and outstanding length. The tannins aren't as polished as the Grand Vin, but this has real character.

Vinous:

The 2023 Echo de Lynch-Bages is a potent second wine. It’s really the Cabernets that drive the wine's flavor profile and overall feel. The Echo is not as juicy or succulent as it can be, rather it is a wine that will need a year or two post-release to show at its best.

Aromas of cassis, dark berries and creamy new oak introduce the 2023 Echo de Lynch-Bages, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered wine with a succulent core of fruit framed by youthfully chewy tannins.
