Descripción

Este tinto es obra del winemaker Roberto Oliván, una figura destacada de la Rioja Alavesa en los últimos tiempos. Viñas viejas, una microparcela de 0,5 hectáreas y viticultura de mínima interveción son algunas de sus señas de identidad, que dan como resultado un tinto aromático, fresco y jugoso.

Muy aromático y sutil, con aromas de violetas y notas terrosas.

Viñedos situados en Viñaspre (Álava) a una altitud de 590 metros.
Superficie
0,95 hectáreas.
Edad
Entre 94 años y 7 años.
Suelo
Poco profundo, llano, con una roca madre arenisca y con paquetes de margas de baja intensidad muy superficial.
Clima
Influencia atlántica. Añada marcada por las numerosas lluvias primaverales y estivales.
Cosecha
La vendimia manual en cajas de 15 kilogramos tuvo lugar el 12 de octubre.
Vinificación
Fermentación espontánea en tinas abiertas, con un despalillado parcial del 60% y bazuqueos suaves.
Envejecimiento
Crianza de 9 meses en barricas de segundo uso de roble húngaro.
Embotellado
Agosto de 2021.

Dominated by Garnacha, with 6% Tempranillo and 4% Malvasía, this windy site is located on sandstone soils in Viñaspre. The resulting wine is sappy, concentrated and energetic with perfume to spare, subtle wood influence, pomegranate and wild strawberry flavours, a volatile lift and a spicy, whole bunch finish. The 2020 Escondite del Ardacho El Abundillano is the single-vineyard bottling that goes faster in the market, so I tasted a wine that is one year younger than the other two. It started with a strong reduction and needed time to dissipate it, so if your bottle is reduced, give it an energetic decanting and some time in the decanter. After a good 30 minutes, the wine starts to unfurl very attractive floral aromas with some meaty tones and a balanced and vibrant palate, a place that always produces a very showy wine. In 2020 he harvested the 5th of November with good ripeness that delivered 14.5% alcohol, so it's powerful, but it also has a lot of acidity that shows up in the shape of acid berries. The three single-plot wines have a similar fermentation, with 40% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and aging in used barrels for some nine months. This is mostly Garnacha, the grape responsible for the showy and floral aromatics, with some 6% Tempranillo and 4% Malvasía Riojana. 1,866 bottles were filled in August 2021.
