Descripción

La Baixada es un tinto del Priorat de Viña Clasificada elaborado por Álvaro Palacios principalmente con Garnacha y pequeñas proporciones de Garnacha blanca a partir de una única parcela clasificada de 1,30 hectáreas. Esta añada se encuentra todavía en fase de crianza, pero muestra un perfil de lo más refinado y elegante.

Viñedo ubicado en la localidad de Gratallops. Brotación a partir del 22 de marzo, floración a partir del 5 de junio y envero a partir del 14 de julio.

1,30 hectáreas.
Clima
Continental con influencia mediterránea. En esta añada destaca la sequía, con una pluviometría de 250 litros entre noviembre de 2022 y octubre de 2023. Durante los meses de primavera sólo descargaron 43 litros. Por esta razón, y por primera vez en la historia, tuvieron que incluir técnicas precisas de riego en zonas con baja absorción de agua.
Cosecha
Vendimia realizada entre el 8 y el 10 de septiembre.
Envejecimiento
Aún criándose en barricas.

The Wine Advocate:

The unbottled 2023 La Baixada was a little darker and earthier, a little more in the style of the l'Ermita from the same vintage, in contrast with the paler and more ethereal Finca Dofí and Les Aubaguetes. It has darker fruit, hints of pine nuts and resin, with some dusty tannins and an earthy hint. This is always a very tannic wine from 28-year-old vines. It develops more complexity with time in the glass, with some herbal notes, hints of tomato vine.

Decanter:

A portion of the fruit from the 1.3ha La Baixada vineyard used to go into Finca Dofí, until the site achieved Vinya Classificada status in 2018. Tasting en primeur, this is just a little reduced on the nose, but in the mouth the Garnacha (with 5% Garnacha Blanca) sings with vivid, punchy redcurrant fruit. Finishes lightly dry. The essence of Priorat. I have always liked this wine, this vintage even more so.
