Pardas Collita Roja 2017

The red Sumoll 2017 Collita Roja was produced with grapes from five or six old organically farmed vineyards planted by their grandparents in the north of Penedès in the villages of Torrelavit, Sant Llorenç d'Hortons, Piera and La Llacuna. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in barriques, concrete and stainless steel for six months. It has an amazing nose that is young, fresh and fruit-driven, delivering incredible freshness for a warm and dry year. It has depth and complexity, showcasing the aging potential of the grape. It has 12.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.33 and a medium-bodied palate, with something ethereal and weightless, very fine tannins and very tasty flavors and the acidity of a white wine but with the crunchy tannins of Nebbiolo. It's as characterful as the Credence Clearwater Revival song we were listening to while we tasted the wine. A serious red, the Sumoll is the Trousseau of Penedès. 3,855 bottles and 124 magnums were filled in June 2018. - Luis Gutiérrez.
A step up from Sus Scrofa, this is the benchmark Sumoll of the Penedès. Ripe berry fruits, toast, smoke, warm earth and wild herbs; the rusticity of the wine is its charm. Firm tannins and fantastic natural acidity. 2020-3032.
