Via XVIII 2021

The regional red blend 2021 Vía XVIII has grapes from different villages, but they avoided the zone of the Sil Valley, the bottom of the valley and toward the slopes. It's mostly Mencía with some Garnacha Tintorera and some of the local reds, Grao Negro, Merenzao and Albarello (Brancellao). It fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel with approximately 30% full clusters and indigenous yeasts, and it matured in oak barrels of different sizes for 13 months and spent a further five months in stainless steel before bottling. It's more austere, shy and tight, with a moderate 12.5% alcohol and a structured and serious palate, with fine-grained tannins and a stony sensation. 7,825 bottles were produced. It was bottled in May 2023.
