James Suckling:

This gives off a very regal impression from the outset with cedary notes ahead of crushed roses, an abundance of sweetly fragrant spices, graphite, wild herbs and ruby grapefruit zest, as well as super fresh cherries and red plums. The palate has a very taut, fine and elegant core of tannin with pitch-perfect balance, carrying fresh cherry flavor. Try from 2025.

Decanter:

In the past, quality at this Castiglione Falletto estate was patchy but Achille Boroli, from the new generation of this entrepreneurial family, has been determined to improve quality. Judging by the vintages since 2012, he seems to be succeeding. This Villero bottling is aged in a variety of barrels, suggesting a pragmatic approach. The nose is charming, with wafting raspberry and rose aromas. The attack is lean but graceful, concentrated and elegant, with integrated tannins and ample tension. It's poised and quite long - a lovely wine but perhaps not for long cellaring. Drinking Window 2020 - 2032
